Organization Teams Strategic Plan

Streamlining Organization’s Teams toward the Shared Vision

Organization team strategic plan is a tool for streamlining the organization’s teams to meet the organization goals. It defines each team’s vision, mission, philosophy and goals. It provides a strategy of how each team will act to achieve the organization’s shared vision. The strategic plan acts as the guiding statement of how each team and department will conduct its business and determine its relationship with other teams.

Nash (1950), in the game theory stated that we succeed when everyone succeeds. Each team has a role to play and an organization cannot succeed if any one team fails. Action of one team affects the action of the others teams in the organization, and therefore the whole organization.

To streamline the organizational teams, the teams should be organized in three zones; a generative end team, a midfield team and a strike team, just like a football pitch.  Each zone team has the role to play toward the success of team. How the ball is passed from player to player is critical to scoring goals. The area in which each player should cover is key and crucial for the team to succeed.

The Generative End Teams

Generative End Teams are involved in generation of high quality knowledge for the organization. These teams should conduct extensive research to generate ideas for products development. The content generated by the generative end teams will be used in the other two zones for community engagement, to reach out to the communities: both local and professional communities. The content developed determine the success of the organizations.

Midfield Teams

The midfield teams are the communication teams. They are involved in community engagement. The midfield teams use the developed information from the generative end teams to reach out to the communities. The midfielders make the first contact with the community, they use personalized information for different communities. Although they face lots of resistance from the outside world, the midfielders are very crucial for the organizational success. The marketing coverage should be wide and unique depending on the target audience.

Strike Team

The strike team: the closers. This team follows-up with people who already have information from the midfielders. The strike team should be specific and minimize wide areas of attack. Their target is the people who have been contacted and have information about the project and the products. Since money is the measure of performance, the main goal of the strike team is to create value, to convert ideas to wealth.
